Describe Your Brick Wall:  In one or two sentences describe your research problem (who, when, where, what).
Seeking great-great grandfather, the father of Presley W. HARRISON (b. 28 Mar 1851 in Alabama; d. 1 Mar 1914 in Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee).  Some researchers claim his father was a Jim Harrison, born in Europe, and his mother’s maiden name was Baker, born in England, but that is from a Tennessee Death Certificate with no informant named.
What Do You Know:  Briefly describe what information you have found concerning this brick wall.
Presley W. HARRISON married Permelia Angelina Jane Frances DAVIDSON on 19 Feb 1874 in Giles County, Tennessee.  At the time she was 15 years old.  Five months later in July 1874 she gave birth to their only child, William Henry HARRISON.  Permalia always told the family Presley deserted her and the child.  Was that true or, did he die? Take up with another woman? Was he already married? Or, was Permilia just too difficult to live with?  Stories to that effect have been passed down in the family.
Where You Have Searched:  Briefly list the individuals and records you have already searched.
A search of’s census, marriage, military and death records revealed Presley first appears in the 1870 census of Lauderdale County, Tennessee, as a farm laborer, born in Alabama, living in the household of Charles and Rebecca Weathers.
On 4 Nov 1876 a Presley Ward HARRISON married a Marth VADEN in Colbert County, Alabama.  Her maiden name may have been DEATON or DENTON, rather than VADEN.
