Your Name:  Glenn Julius

Describe Your Brick Wall:  After arriving as a 12 year old boy in Philadelphia in September 1748, Phillip Jacob Julius joined a Pennsylvania Dutch community in York, County, PA, 100 miles to the west of Philadelphia.  How did he get to York County?  Who guided him?  With whom did he live in his youth?

What Do You Know:  Although Phillip was born in Switzerland in 1736, he considered his home country to be Alsace.  He spoke German, and sailed from Rotterdam in the Netherlands to Philadelphia.

Where You Have Searched:   There is supposed to be a Julius family Bible in the possession of a Julius family in York, PA, but I have not been able to locate them.

Might he have been an indentured servant?  Apparently they were very common in Pennsylvania at that time.  See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indentured_servitude_in_Pennsylvania
